3 July 2013 - Getting Ready

So the last week of June and the first of July was busy with preparations for guests. We moved boxes, furniture, clothes, etc. We completely cleaned out the office so that we could put a twin bed, a crib and a pack-n-play in that room. We asked Vinay to find another place to live for the month and he was happy to do so. He found an apartment that was in transition from renters and was owned by the person he works for, right in the middle of downtown Seattle. He was excited to live there. The only problem was the place was totally empty. No furniture. No utensils. No anything. He would have to supply everything that he needed. He did take his mattress out of the room and he wanted to take the rest of the frame that was ours but we needed it for the twin bed that was going in the office.
As soon as Vinay was gone, we vacuumed and went to get the bed that the Wings were letting us borrow. It was a queen size bed and it went into the teal room. We took out the large white desk in there and put a small desk in there to put clothes on along with a pack-n-play. Ben's old room was pretty much ready and Samuel had to clean out his room.

Samuel left on Wednesday morning with his dad to go to Helaman's Camp. Stephen came back late that afternoon and Samuel stayed until Saturday. Susan and Cory with Josiah and Kimball were suppose to come on Thursday but they didn't come until Friday late night because Susan had to work unexpectedly. It was nice to have the help finishing up the preparations. Kimball and Josiah enjoyed picking berries and eating them. Cory had to do some college work and Susan was able to help Stephen and I figure out what we needed to have tested to see what we needed to do to be more physically fit and active.
Saturday night everyone else started coming in. First, Liz & Austin with Isaac, Andrew, Emeri and Oakley showed up around 5:00. Then Sarah and Michael came followed by Ben and Carli.

Sunday Susan and Cory went to SeaTac and picked up Jessica at the airport along with Hadlie and Christian.That afternoon, Brian and Ruth came over with 2 young men. The young men were nephews of Ruth from Canada who had gone to EFY the week before. They talked with Samuel about EFY and he spoke to them about Helaman's Camp. We had a nice "Sunday Dinner" as ordered by Sarah of Swiss Steak, mashed potatoes, beans, carrots, broccoli and rolls with a a birthday cake for dessert. We celebrated Oakley's 2nd birthday with a doll cake and ice cream. It was so fun to see her eyes light up when she was the beautiful cake that Ruth made. She was able to blow out her two candles after lots of coaching from her mom.
